Hermannsberg Riesling GG tr Steinberg

The Steinberg is one of the great Riesling sites of the Nahe — and Gut Hermannsberg extracts everything that defines a Grosses Gewächs from this sandstone-porphyry soil: depth, tension, longevity.

Gut Hermannsberg is located in Niederhausen on the Nahe and was once the Prussian State Winery — one of the most historically significant wine addresses in Germany. Since 2009, under the private management of Katharina and Hermann Eichstädt, it has been consistently focused on quality. The Rieslings are produced from steep slopes on weathered porphyry and slate, fermented spontaneously, and aged in large wooden barrels.

In the glass, the 2021 Steinberg shows ripe apricot and pineapple, underscored by lemon thyme and a hint of red currant. The acidity is precise and long, not a gram too much — it carries the fruit without dominating it. The finish is mineral, almost salty, with a slight tension that promises years of development.
