Lodovico Tenuta di Biserno

Lodovico Tenuta di Biserno
Lodovico is the flagship of Tenuta di Biserno — a red wine from the Maremma that bears the signature of the Antinori family and combines Bordeaux style with Tuscan minerality.
The winery is located on the Tuscan coast, near Bibbona, on soils of red clay and limestone. Lodovico Antinori founded the estate together with his brother Piero as a project for great, age-worthy red wines from the Bolgheri region. The vineyards are cultivated according to precise organic principles, and yields are deliberately kept low.
In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby red. The nose offers aromas of cassis, black cherry, and cedar, along with hints of graphite and dried maquis herbs. On the palate, it presents dense yet ripe tannins, a vibrant acidity, and a long, spicy finish with notes of dark chocolate and tobacco. This wine needs time—or at least some air in the glass.
Serving suggestion: Decanting recommended (at least 1 hour). Serving temperature 17–18 °C. Drinking window: now until 2035+. Pairs well with braised beef shoulder, venison ragù with pappardelle, or mature stagionato pecorino.
