Lodovico Tenuta di Biserno

Lodovico is the flagship of Tenuta di Biserno — a red wine from the Maremma that bears the signature of the Antinori family and combines Bordeaux style with Tuscan minerality.

The winery is located in the coastal strip of Tuscany, near Bibbona, on soils of red clay and limestone. Lodovico Antinori founded the estate together with his brother Piero as a project for great, age-worthy red wines from the Bolgheri area. The vineyards are managed according to precise ecological principles, with yields kept deliberately low.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby red. The nose reveals cassis, black cherry, and cedar wood, along with nuances of graphite and dried herbs of the macchia. On the palate, dense but ripe tannins, a lively acid structure, and a long, spicy finish with hints of dark chocolate and tobacco. The wine needs time — or at least air in the glass.

Drinking recommendation: Decanting recommended (at least 1 hour). Serving temperature 17–18 °C. Pairs with braised beef shoulder, game ragù with pappardelle, or mature Pecorino stagionato.

Tenuta di Biserno – Tuscan Maremma with a view of the sea. Located in Bibbona, the view extends as far as Corsica. Founded in 2001 by Lodovico and Piero Antinori. Ideal climate, cool breezes from the coast, soils of clay and limestone – perfect conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. 70 hectares of vineyards, plus small quantities of olive oil and grappa. Here, Tuscan tradition meets visionary spirit. Maremma, as it tastes.
