Pinot Blanc City Wall Magnum

The Weißburgunder Stadtmauer from Kirchner shows what this grape variety can do when the vineyard and craftsmanship are right: not just pleasant, but substantial.

Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) is often underestimated in Germany – unfairly so. In the right hands, wines with real depth are created that easily rival Riesling and Grauburgunder. Kirchner is one of the producers who takes this variety seriously: the Stadtmauer cuvée stands for a mineral-driven style with aging potential.

In the glass, ripe mirabelle plum, honeydew melon, and a clear pull of stone fruit – peach, nectarine. Beneath this, a distinct minerality that supports and lifts the wine. A hint of garden herbs in the background provides freshness and contour. On the palate, compact and juicy at the same time: melt without heaviness, power without force. The finish remains long and lively.

The magnum bottle is not a gimmick – it slows down aging and gives the wine more time to develop.

Kirchner

The Kirchner winery is located in the picturesque and traditional winegrowing village of Freinsheim in the Palatinate region of Germany. The winery has been family-owned since 1790 and is passed down from generation to generation. This long tradition is reflected in the care and dedication with which the Kirchner family produces their wines. Quality and sustainability are paramount. The winery's vineyards are cultivated using organic methods, characterized by environmentally friendly management, reduced yields per hectare, and intensive manual labor. The goal is to harvest healthy, high-quality grapes that form the basis for excellent wines. The Kirchner winery's portfolio is diverse, encompassing estate wines, village wines, and single-vineyard wines. This classification is indicated by different colors on the labels. Particular emphasis is placed on the region's traditional grape varieties, such as Riesling, Pinot Noir, and St. Laurent. These grape varieties are cultivated on a total vineyard area of 17 hectares, with 60% dedicated to white wine grapes and 40% to red wine grapes. The wines of the Kirchner winery reflect the Palatinate terroir and the passionate work of the Kirchner family.
