Pinot Blanc City Wall Magnum

Kirchner's Weißburgunder Stadtmauer shows what this grape variety can do when location and craftsmanship are right: not mere pleasingness, but substance.

Pinot Blanc is often underestimated in Germany – unjustly so. In the right hands, it produces wines with real depth that easily rival Riesling and Pinot Gris. Kirchner is one of the producers who take this variety seriously: their Stadtmauer cuvée represents a mineral-driven style with aging potential.

In the glass, ripe mirabelle plum, honeydew melon, and a distinct hint of stone fruit – peach, nectarine. Beneath this lies a pronounced minerality that supports and elevates the wine. A touch of garden herbs in the background adds freshness and definition. On the palate, it is both compact and juicy: smooth without heaviness, powerful without force. The finish is long and vibrant.

The magnum bottle is not a gimmick – it slows down the aging process and gives the wine more time to develop. Drinking window: now until 2029.

Kirchner

The Kirchner winery is located in the picturesque and traditional winegrowing village of Freinsheim in the Palatinate region of Germany. The winery has been family-owned since 1790 and is passed down from generation to generation. This long tradition is reflected in the care and dedication with which the Kirchner family produces their wines. Quality and sustainability are paramount. The winery's vineyards are cultivated using organic methods, characterized by environmentally friendly management, reduced yields per hectare, and intensive manual labor. The goal is to harvest healthy, high-quality grapes that form the basis for excellent wines. The Kirchner winery's portfolio is diverse, encompassing estate wines, village wines, and single-vineyard wines. This classification is indicated by different colors on the labels. Particular emphasis is placed on the region's traditional grape varieties, such as Riesling, Pinot Noir, and St. Laurent. These grape varieties are cultivated on a total vineyard area of 17 hectares, with 60% dedicated to white wine grapes and 40% to red wine grapes. The wines of the Kirchner winery reflect the Palatinate terroir and the passionate work of the Kirchner family.
