Halenberg Riesling GG

The Halenberg is one of the great Riesling sites of the Nahe — and Emrich-Schönleber has been one of the wineries that has consistently proven this for decades. This Grosses Gewächs shows why.

The winery from Monzingen has been managing the Halenberg for generations. The site lies on weathered slate and volcanic rock — a soil that gives the Riesling this characteristic tension between fruit and mineral that makes the wine immediately recognizable.

Cool and salty on the nose, with stone fruit in the background. Then more on the palate: clear apple fruit, a hint of apricot, and fresh herbs, underscored by a dense, salty pressure that runs through the entire palate. The body is firm, the structure fine and precise — no opulence, but tension. A light astringency gives the wine contour; the finish is long, salty-mineral with a herbal-spicy aftertaste. Complex, but never heavy.

Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs with zander fillet with beurre blanc, mature goat cheese, or a classic Wiener Schnitzel with lemon.
