Monzinger Niederberg Riesling 1G

The Monzinger Niederberg is one of the great Riesling vineyards of the Nahe region — and Emrich-Schönleber is one of the wineries that impressively demonstrates this. Here, they don't grow a pleasing everyday wine, but a Riesling with a true vineyard profile.

The family-run winery in Monzingen has been cultivating steep slopes on weathered red sandstone and clay slate for generations. The Niederberg vineyard is one of the VDP's Erste Lage ( 1G ) – a classification that sets strict criteria for origin and vinification. Emrich-Schönleber wines are known for their dry style with mineral depth and a clear acid structure.

In the glass, the Niederberg displays aromas of white peach, ripe citrus peel, and a hint of grapefruit—underpinned by the typical slate minerality of the Nahe region. The acidity is present but integrated, the finish long and saline. Not an opulent, not a soft wine—rather taut, precise, and vibrant.
