Gravner Ribolla IGT Friuli-Venezia Giulia

An orange wine that needs time and gets it: The Ribolla Gialla from Gravner shows deep amber in the glass and combines opulence with clear structure.

Josko Gravner is considered one of the defining winemakers for wines from amphorae in Friuli. The Ribolla is aged in clay amphorae from the Caucasus and comes onto the market after a long maturation period. It comes from Friuli-Venezia Giulia in northeastern Italy and is produced dry.

On the nose, dried orange peel, ripe peach, white honey, and fine spices like cinnamon and vanilla. On the palate, a silky texture, notes of baked apple, and a distinct mineral power. The finish is long and salty.

Recommendation: Serve it at 12 to 14 °C in a large glass so that it can open up. It goes well with fried rabbit, risotto with porcini mushrooms, aged mountain cheese, or dishes with saffron and oriental spices.
