Grappa AnticaCuvée Riserva Cask Strength 59.9% vol 5 years old - matured in barriques 0.7L

A Grappa Riserva at cask strength: The AnticaCuvée from Nonino Distillatori in Friuli comes in the bottle at 59.9% ABV and is correspondingly powerful and concentrated.

The cuvée is made from the pomace of the red grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Schioppettino. The grappa matures in barriques—according to the producer, in French barriques and former sherry casks—and is bottled without the addition of colorants. The warm amber color comes solely from the wood.

Spicy notes, candied fruits, pastries, and fine orange peel open up in the glass. Apricot, vanilla, and bitter almond follow on the palate. The body is full and velvety, the finish long.

Best enjoyed neat and in small sips; a drop of water opens up the high alcohol content. It is suitable as a digestif after a rich meal, with dark chocolate, or with strong, mature cheese.

The Distillery

Nonino Distillatori

Nonino Distillatori from Percoto in Friuli has reinvented grappa – and that is no exaggeration. For generations, the Nonino family has been distilling with a passion that you can feel in every sip.

What was once considered a rustic pomace brandy drink, Nonino has turned into an elegant world-class spirit. The three sisters Cristina, Antonella and Elisabetta continue the legacy of their parents Giannola and Benito today – and were named the best distillery in the world in 2020. A merit that shows in every detail: from the hand-blown Murano bottles to the aged Gran Riserva.
