Tellus Rosé di Syrah Lazio IGP
A single-varietal Syrah from Lazio, vinified as a light rosé with a delicate violet shimmer – a summer wine with a southern Italian character and clear lines.
Falesco is the Cotarella family winery, founded by brothers Riccardo and Renzo Cotarella in Lazio near Montefiascone. The Tellus line represents approachable, single-varietal wines from the region's volcanic soils – earth that imparts minerality and freshness to the grapes.
In the glass, the rosé displays aromas of blood grapefruit and raspberry, underpinned by a hint of violet and fresh herbs. Light-bodied on the palate, with lively acidity and a spicy, clean, dry finish. Not an opulent, cloying wine, but a refreshing one.
Served at 8–10 °C, it pairs well with grilled sea bass, Caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella, or a light pasta sauce with shrimp and zucchini. It also makes a great aperitif on warm evenings.
Behind Falesco stands one of Italy's most successful wine families: the brothers Riccardo and Renzo Cotarella. Founded in 1979, the winery has revived forgotten local grape varieties like Roscetto and combined them with international giants such as Merlot.
The breakthrough came in 1993 with the single-varietal Merlot Montiano – today an icon of Italian innovation. Wines are produced on approximately 370 hectares between Lazio and Umbria, skillfully combining tradition and modernity.
Whether it's the iconic Vitiano, the velvety Tellus Syrah, or the Est! Est!! Est!!! di Montefiascone: Every bottle tells a story of volcanic soils and a family that continues to shape the Italian wine world to this day.
