Delheim Pinotage

Delheim's Pinotage boasts a deep ruby-red color. On the nose, this Stellenbosch red offers aromas of black cherries, plums, and red berries, beautifully underpinned by hints of dark chocolate and floral notes. On the palate, the flavors of red and black berries come to the fore. The velvety tannins perfectly round out the taste experience. It matures for 12 months in oak barrels, 21% of which are new. A wine made from hand-picked grapes, it can be enjoyed now, but will improve even further within five years of harvest. Enjoy it with meat dishes such as oxtail, beef stew, and smoked chicken.

Delheim

Delheim – South African wines with a German heart. Founder Hans Otto Hoheisen came to South Africa from Germany in the 1930s, established a farm and vineyards on the Simonsberg, and built a cozy living room for his wife Deli – "Deli's Home" became the name. He had a thirst for adventure, but lacked winemaking expertise. Giving up? Not an option. Somehow, he managed to produce his first Cabernet Sauvignon. From 1958, "Spatz" Sperling took over the cellar – with ambition, humor, and a Chenin Blanc with the ugliest label of 1970: "Spatzendreck" (Sparrow Droppings). A piece of German-South African wine history.
