David & Nadia Elpidios

David & Nadia Elpidios
Five grape varieties, one clear signature: David & Nadia's Elpidios combines Carignan, Syrah, Pinotage, Cinsault and Grenache into a red wine with great depth and at the same time a fine drinking flow.
David Sadie and Nadia Barnard, a married couple, work in the Swartland region of western South Africa – one of the country's most exciting wine regions. Instead of focusing on international varietal wines, they concentrate on old vines, minimal intervention in the cellar, and spontaneous fermentation. Elpidios embodies their approach of extracting more complexity from a blended cuvée than from a single grape variety.
In the glass, it opens with aromas of violet, raspberry, and cranberry – red berry, fresh, with floral lightness. On the palate, it displays a juicy texture and melting fruit extract; the tannins are present but well-integrated. The long finish brings notes of mocha and caramel – a touch of depth that elevates the wine beyond pure fruit.
