David & Nadia David&Nadia Chenin BLanc HK
South African Chenin Blanc at Loire level – that's a rare achievement. With this wine, David & Nadia Sadie demonstrate what the Swartland region can achieve when consistently using natural fermentation.
The David & Nadia winery is located in the Swartland region north of Cape Town, an area known since the 2000s for its old Trockenbeerenauslese vineyards and artisanal winemakers. The husband-and-wife team of David and Nadia Sadie work with old Chenin Blanc vines on granite and schist soils – exclusively using spontaneous fermentation with natural vineyard yeasts, with no unnecessary intervention in the cellar.
In the glass, the HK displays ripe yellow pear, quince paste, and a hint of beeswax. The acidity is present but integrated – not sharp, but rather a long, creamy mouthfeel. The finish offers mineral tension, a touch of salt, and a spicy note of ginger and white pepper.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Drinking window: now until 2028.
It goes well with grilled cod with lemon butter, chicken tagine with apricot, or a mature goat cheese.
