Chenin Blanc from South Africa at Loire level – that rarely succeeds. With this wine, David & Nadia Sadie show what the Swartland region can achieve when one consistently relies on natural fermentation.

The David & Nadia winery is located in the Swartland north of Cape Town, a region known since the 2000s for its old dry-farmed vineyards and artisanal winemakers. The couple David and Nadia Sadie work with old Chenin Blanc vines on granite and slate soils – exclusively spontaneous fermentation with natural vineyard yeasts, no intervention in the cellar that wouldn't be necessary.

In the glass, the HK shows ripe yellow pear, quince paste, and a hint of beeswax. The acidity is present but integrated – not a sharp cut, but a long, creamy mouthfeel. In the finish, mineral tension, slightly salty, with a spicy note of ginger and white pepper.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.
Pairs with grilled cod with lemon butter, chicken tagine with apricot, or a ripe goat cheese.
