David & Nadia Plat'bos

A Chenin Blanc that shows what old vines on granite can achieve: dense and concentrated, but with an acid structure that keeps everything in balance.

David & Nadia Sadie are among the most influential names in South African winemaking. Their Swartland estate is known for handcrafted white wines made from old vines – a far cry from the industrial mainstream of the Cape region. Plat'bos , their third single-vineyard Chenin Blanc since 2018, comes from vines planted in 1981 on weathered granite soil. These same vines also contribute to their regular David & Nadia blend – here, they stand alone in the glass.

The nose offers aromas of ripe yellow pear, candied citrus peel, and a distinct hint of anise. The palate is full and oily in texture, as is typical of old Chenin vines growing on mineral-rich soil – but without heaviness: the lively acidity and a stony, almost salty intensity keep the wine lean and long. The finish lingers with a spicy freshness.

Serving temperature: 11–13 °C. Drinking window: 2025–2030. Pairs well with grilled monkfish with caper butter, chicken with lemon and olives, or a strong goat cheese.

David & Nadia

Nestled in the heart of South Africa's picturesque Swartland lies the enchanting David & Nadia winery, a place where passion, tradition, and modern winemaking come together in perfect harmony. Founded by husband and wife David and Nadia Sadie, this estate unites the region's rich winemaking history with a deep understanding of the natural balance and purity of wine. David, a native of the Swartland, and Nadia, both graduates of Stellenbosch University, combined their academic expertise in viticulture and soil science to create wines that reflect the Swartland terroir. Their journey together began in 2009 with their marriage and their first wine in 2010. Since then, they have dedicated themselves fully to their winery, located on the idyllic Paardebosch farm. David & Nadia's wines tell the story of the land in which they grew and the hands that nurtured them. They work closely with local farmers who share their philosophy and source their grapes from both the Paardebosch farm and other outstanding wine estates in the region. This close collaboration and respectful approach to nature allow them to produce wines of unparalleled quality. The "David & Nadia Range" and the "Single Vineyard Range" offer a spectrum of wines that express both the diversity and depth of the Swartland. From elegant Chenin Blancs to characterful reds like Grenache Noir and Elpidios, every sip reveals the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into each bottle. David & Nadia practice minimal intervention in the cellar to preserve the natural aromas and structures of the grapes. This approach results in wines that impress with their freshness, complexity, and longevity, capturing the true essence of the Swartland. Let yourself be enchanted by David & Nadia's wines and savor the artistry and rich history that resonates in every drop. Immerse yourself in the world of Swartland wines and experience the magic that arises when passion meets tradition.
