Château Duhart-Milon-Rothschild

Duhart-Milon is the second great growth of the Rothschild family in Pauillac — and literally shares the border with Lafite. This explains the characteristic elegance that distinguishes this wine from its more muscular Pauillac neighbors.

The Château is located in the north of the appellation on gravelly-sandy soil. Since its acquisition by the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in the 1960s, the vineyard and cellar have been consistently modernized. Today, the approximately 76 hectares — planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot — are considered one of the most reliable sources for the classic Médoc style.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red with a purple core. On the nose, cedarwood and blackcurrant, plus notes of tobacco, graphite, and a hint of dried violets. On the palate, medium to full body, fine-grained tannins, lively acidity — no weight for the sake of weight. The finish is long and characterized by a subtle minerality.

Serving temperature 17–18 °C. Pairs with braised leg of lamb with thyme, entrecôte, or ripe Comté.

Château Duhart-Milon-Rothschild

Château Duhart-Milon is located in the heart of Pauillac – right next to the legendary Château Lafite Rothschild, to whose family it has belonged since 1962. This proximity is no coincidence, but rather a deliberate choice: the same meticulous care, the same pursuit of precision, the same love for the Médoc.

As the only Quatrième Grand Cru Classé owned by the Rothschilds, Duhart-Milon combines classic Pauillac power with an elegant, almost understated style. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grow here on typical gravel and clay soils – the result is wines with depth, dark fruit, and a long, smooth finish. Wines that deserve – and reward – time.
