Château Des Bardes AOC Saint Émilion Grand Cru
A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from the limestone plateau — that means structured tannins, dark fruit, and the typical depth that characterizes this appellation. Château des Bardes demonstrates precisely that: Merlot in its Burgundian-influenced Bordeaux style, warm and full of character.
The vineyard is situated on one of the highest points in Saint-Émilion, on a limestone plateau that slowly stores water and releases it evenly—a natural buffer that provides stability to the vines even during dry periods. Owner Marc Milhade manages the terroir according to a certified environmental management system (ISO 14001): no herbicides are used, and biodiversity is actively promoted. Sustainability here is not a marketing promise, but a documented practice.
In the glass, a warm bouquet of mocha beans and sweet spices unfolds. On the palate, black cherry dominates—intense and ripe—accompanied by a subtle hint of vanilla. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, the finish long. Great aging potential.
Best served at 16–18 °C . Pairs well with entrecôte, braised lamb shoulder, or a robust Comté cheese. If opened now, decant for at least an hour.
