Caliterra Merlot Reserva

A Merlot that showcases what southern Chile is capable of – approachable, full of character, and honestly priced. The Caliterra Reserva Merlot from the sun-drenched Colchagua Valley is for anyone looking for an everyday red wine that still has a story to tell.

In the glass, it shines a deep ruby red. The nose opens with ripe, sweet cherries and a hint of plum – inviting and uncomplicated. On the palate, it is velvety and round, with delicate notes of vanilla and dark chocolate, resulting from a brief aging in used oak barrels. The tannins are mild and well-integrated, and the finish is pleasantly long.

This wine is your perfect companion for a weeknight dinner: with pasta Bolognese, a juicy burger, or a simple cheese board. It also makes a great, uncomplicated choice for guests – no lengthy explanation required.

the wine was a disappointment, but the service from Vinoscout was good.

This wine is much too dry for a Merlot, it simply doesn't taste as expected. I had bought the 2016 vintage once - it was super - a poem. But that is no longer available anywhere. So I thought the 2017 would be the same. Instead of the or...

The Winery

Caliterra

Caliterra – a play on words from "la calidad de la tierra", the quality of the soil. This is how this Chilean wine was created in 1996.

The idea: to combine innovation and the best fruits of Chile. In the warm valleys of Colchagua, Maipo, and Casablanca, the grapes grow on large areas – each appellation with its own character. The goal is to create wines with consistent quality without blurring their origin.

Fresh, independent, modern. Behind it is Eduardo Chadwick-Errazuriz – a name that stands for top Chilean wines.
