Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie

An unpeated Islay single malt that shows the island is capable of much more than smoke: The Classic Laddie is the heart of the Bruichladdich collection – bright, fruity, and distinctive.

The distillery on Islay's west coast was revived in 2001 after years of inactivity and has since consciously operated without peat. Instead, Scottish barley takes center stage – 100% from the island or the Scottish mainland. It matures in a combination of American and European oak casks, which gives the whisky its characteristic brightness.

On the nose, fresh grain, sweet malt, and a hint of citrus peel. On the palate, ripening yellow fruits, creamy vanilla, and a light touch of wildflower honey unfold. The finish is medium-long, slightly spicy, with a subtle salty breeze – typical of the distillery's coastal location. Bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered.

Neat at room temperature – or with a drop of water to further enhance the fruit aromas. For those who prefer a classic approach: it also makes a great highball serve with soda water and lemon zest.
