Bodegas Campillo Campillo Blanco Fermentado en Barrica

A white wine from Rioja that shows what barrique fermentation can do for a Spanish white wine: creamy texture, but no heavy wood block.

Bodegas Campillo is one of the most reliable wineries in the Rioja Alta. The estate consistently adheres to classic winemaking methods—even for its white wines. The Blanco Fermentado en Barrica is fermented directly in French oak barrels and then aged on its fine lees. This process gives the wine its unusual richness without making it heavy.

In the glass, it displays a golden yellow color with greenish reflections. The nose offers aromas of roasted almond, ripe quince, and a hint of vanilla—the oak is present but integrated. On the palate, a creamy texture is balanced by a firm acidity. The finish is medium-long with a slightly nutty note.

Bodegas Campillo

In the middle of a sea of vines rises a building like a French château. This is the dream of Julio Faustino Martínez, who brought the Bordeaux model to Rioja with Bodegas Campillo .

The heart of the estate consists of 50 hectares of vines planted with clay and limestone. Tempranillo, Graciano, and Viura grapes grow here. The grapes are harvested by hand.

Campillo wines are the foundation of the Faustino Group. Today, the estate is a major player in its own right in Spain's most famous wine region.
