In the middle of a sea of vines rises a building like a French château. This is the dream of Julio Faustino Martínez, who brought the Bordeaux model to Rioja with Bodegas Campillo .

The heart of the estate consists of 50 hectares of vines planted with clay and limestone. Tempranillo, Graciano, and Viura grapes grow here. The grapes are harvested by hand.

Campillo wines are the foundation of the Faustino Group. Today, the estate is a major player in its own right in Spain's most famous wine region.

Bodegas Campillo —
Bordeaux soul in the Rioja

Bodegas Campillo is located in the middle of the vineyards of Laguardia, surrounded by 50 hectares of vines on clay and limestone soils. The building does not resemble a typical Spanish bodega in the slightest — Julio Faustino Martínez deliberately had it built on the model of a French château, as a visible commitment to a philosophy that thinks of Bordeaux and Rioja together.

In the vineyard, Tempranillo, Graciano, and Viura grow, all hand-picked. The soils of clay and limestone give the wines structure and a cool minerality that is not a matter of course in the Rioja Alta. The aging is classic: barrique maturation, clear single-vineyard wines, no compromise on maturation times.

Campillo belongs to the Faustino Group but has established itself as an independent bodega with its own character. The wines stand for a quiet, matured style — Rioja that does not have to be loud to convince.
