Blauschiefer Riesling
A Riesling that brings the terroir of the Middle Mosel directly into the glass: the Blauschiefer from Villa Huesgen stands for a mineral-precise style with real depth.
The Villa Huesgen winery is based in Traben-Trarbach on the Mosel and has been managing steep slopes on weathered blue slate for generations – the typical Mosel subsoil that gives the Riesling its characteristic minerality and cooling freshness. The Blauschiefer is the classic entry into the Huesgen range and shows what the Mosel is known for: clear expression, lively acidity, elegant body.
In the glass, aromas of pickled yellow plum and mirabelle appear, plus dried herbs and a stony-salty minerality. On the palate, it is lean and juicy – not a broad, full-bodied wine, but one that convinces through precision. The acidity is invigorating, not sharp, and runs harmoniously through the long finish. A subtle fruit sweetness maintains the balance.
Serving temperature: 8–10 °C.
Goes well with fried zander with herb butter, poultry rillettes, mild goat cheese or an Asian noodle dish with ginger and lemongrass.

Villa Huesgen embodies something that can still be truly felt on the Moselle: deep roots and a genuine passion for great Riesling. The Huesgen family has been making wine since 1735 – today in its eighth generation, led by Adolph Huesgen VIII.
At the heart of it all is the magnificent villa dating back to 1904, an Art Nouveau gem located right at the center of the vineyard. Here, history and the present merge into a philosophy that sees tradition not as a burden, but as a driving force. The wines are refined, modern, and unmistakably Moselle – made by happy people , as they say on the estate.
