Blaufränkisch vom Lehm QW Central Burgenland 0.75L
The Blaufränkisch from the loam shows what Central Burgenland can do with its characteristic loam terroir base: a red wine with substance that does not deny its origin. The Gesellmann winery is one of the reliable addresses in Burgenland — farming organically (AT-BIO-402) and focused for generations on the Blaufränkisch grape, which gets a very own expression here on heavy loam soil.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby garnet with violet reflections. On the nose, ripe cherries, cloves, licorice, and a hint of cassis — the typical spice play of the grape variety, which the loam soil underlays with an earthy, substantial depth. On the palate, dry, with lively acidity and present, but not edgy tannins.
Goes well with braised beef, game goulash, or strong hard cheese. Drinking temperature: 16–18 °C.
