Baron Edmond de Rothschild Château des Laurets 3L

A Bordeaux from the Rothschild house – in a Jeroboam, i.e. 3.0 liters – for evenings when one bottle is not enough and the wine should be the focus.

Château des Laurets is located in Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion, on the right bank of the Dordogne River. Baron Edmond de Rothschild, from the philanthropic and agricultural branch of the Rothschild family, acquired the estate in 2003 and has consistently expanded it. The vineyards, with their calcareous clay and sandstone soils, are ideal for the classic right-bank grape varieties Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

In the glass, it displays a deep purple-red color. The nose opens with aromas of dark blackberry and ripe plum, along with a hint of vanilla and subtle spice from the oak aging. On the palate, it is juicy and medium-bodied, with soft tannins and a fresh fruitiness that carries the finish. Not a heavyweight – rather an approachable, balanced Bordeaux with a clear sense of origin.

The Jeroboam matures more slowly than the 0.75-liter bottle; those who open it today will experience freshness and fruitiness. Those who wait another two to four years should find more depth.
