Barolo DOCG Coste di Rose GD Vajra

Nebbiolo at its finest: The Coste di Rose shows why Vajra is one of the most reliable addresses in Barolo — structured, aromatically complex and with the typical long-term potential of the denomination.

The GD Vajra winery is located in Vergne, one of the higher-altitude hamlets of Barolo. The Vajra family has been cultivating their vineyards in Piedmont since the 1970s and is known for a style that prioritizes elegance over extraction. Coste di Rose is a single vineyard – the name refers to the wild roses that historically lined the hillside.

In the glass, the wine opens with aromas of sour cherry, dried rose petals, and an undertone of licorice and tar—the classic Nebbiolo signature. On the palate, it presents itself with lively acidity, firmly integrated tannins, and a long, slightly spicy finish with hints of tobacco and herbs.

Serving suggestion: Best served at 17–18 °C. Drinking window 2025–2035 — ideally, cellar for another one to two years to allow the tannins to integrate further. Pairs well with braised beef, wild boar ragù with pasta, or aged Parmigiano Reggiano.

Vajra

GD Vajra from Piedmont makes wines that don't need to be loud – and that's precisely what makes them special. It all began with a childhood dream: Aldo Vaira spent his weekends in Barolo, far from the city, and fell in love with the land. A passion that changed his life. Today, the Vaira family runs the winery together – parents, children, a true unit. They have been farming organically since 1972. Not as a trend, but because they love and understand their land: it takes time, dedication, and respect. You can taste that in every glass – whether in the elegant Barolo or the fresh Dolcetto. Vajra stands for wines with depth and character that don't overwhelm you, but touch you.
