Vilarnau Cava Brut Nature Vintage

A vintage Cava without dosage — that means: no residual sugar, only the character of the grape, the soil, and time. The Vilarnau Brut Nature Vintage shows what mature Cava can achieve.

Caves Vilarnau is located in Penedès, the Catalan heartland of Cava. The winery focuses on vintage bottlings and longer lees aging than the legal minimum—recognizable in the complexity in the glass. Brut Nature means: no dosage added during disgorgement; the wine remains as it is.

On the nose, pear, green apple, and fruit blossoms, followed by brioche and a hint of hazelnut from lees aging. Lively acidity on the palate, creamy bubbles, a medium-long finish with a mineral, dry aftertaste. No cloying sweetness from residual sugar—instead, a clear structure.

Serving suggestion: well chilled at 7–9 °C. Pairs well with seafood, Jamón ibérico, light sushi or as an aperitif before a Mediterranean meal.

Caves Vilarnau

The Caves Vilarnau winery was founded in 2005 by the Andalusian group Gonzáles Byass to expand the company's own wine range with high-quality Cava. Salvatore Adducci was hired to design the labels.

Approximately 2 million Cava bottles are produced annually. Caves Vilarnau explicitly promotes wine tourism and offers a wide range of wine events: from Cava tastings to Cava therapies and hikes on foot, by bicycle, or by helicopter/hot air balloon through/over the vineyards, where you can stay in the company's own hotel. In addition, in-house art exhibitions are offered to show a symbiosis between wine and art.
