Vignobles Brunier Vieux Telegraphe Rouge

The Vieux Télégraphe is one of the reference wines of the southern Rhône — a Châteauneuf-du-Pape that does not understand power and elegance as opposites.

Vignobles Brunier has managed the famous La Crau site in Châteauneuf-du-Pape for generations, named after the historical telegraph pole on the plateau. Large, round galets — the typical rolled pebbles of the appellation — store the heat of the Provençal sun during the day and return it to the vines at night. The share of Grenache is typically around 65%, supplemented by Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault.

In the glass, the wine shows dark cherry, blackberry, and black olive, plus Provençal herbs — thyme, lavender — and a clear mineral vein. The tannins are ripe and structured, the acidity keeps the body lively. The finish is long, spicy, with a hint of leather and tobacco.
