Tokara Reserve Collection Chardonnay

The vineyards around Stellenbosch offer a view of the imposing Simonsberg. At the foot of the steeply rising rocks, the Tokara winery lies in a breathtakingly beautiful and vast landscape. The soils here are nutrient-rich, and sunny days and fresh sea air create the climate in which the berries can ripen evenly over many months. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc vines are primarily grown on the 120 hectares of cultivated land. Using state-of-the-art cellar technology, they are developed into complex and elegant wines that are characterized by fruitiness and freshness. On Walker Bay, near Hermanus, and in the neighboring "new" Elgin region, low average daytime temperatures ensure that the winery's cool-climate grape varieties, such as Sauvignon Blanc, can best realize their potential here.

The still-young winery was established by G.F. Ferreira in 1994 and is now indisputably one of South Africa's top estates. His philosophy is "Good wine, good food and good art go together to make a good lifestyle" – and so Tokara presents itself as an architectural gem with an attached art gallery and first-class restaurant.

Tokara is one of the top 10 wineries in South Africa and is ranked among the top 50 worldwide. More precisely, Tokara is in 48th position, one place ahead of a certain Château Mouton-Rothschild.
