Tokara Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch

Tokara Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch
A Cabernet Sauvignon that showcases Stellenbosch's potential: dark fruit, a clear structure, and a lingering finish. Tokara lies at the foot of the Simonsberg, where fresh sea air and sunny days ensure that the grapes ripen evenly over many weeks.
Founded in 1994 by GF Ferreira, the winery is now one of South Africa's most prestigious. Cabernet Sauvignon vines—the estate's core competency—are cultivated on 120 hectares of nutrient-rich soil. The architecture, art gallery, and on-site restaurant clearly demonstrate that Tokara views winemaking as part of a broader lifestyle.
In the glass, the wine opens with aromas of blackcurrant and cocoa, underpinned by a fresh hint of eucalyptus. On the palate, firm yet ripe tannins support the body without overpowering it. The finish is long, lingering with dark fruit flavors until the very end.
Pairs well with braised lamb loin, herb-crusted beef fillet, or a mature hard cheese. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Drinking window still open—but could improve for several more years.
