Teliani Valley Glekhuri Kisiskhevi Saperavi Qvevri

Teliani Valley Glekhuri Kisiskhevi Saperavi Qvevri
A Georgian red wine that shows what happens when ancient cellar tradition meets an expressive grape variety: The Saperavi from the Kisiskhevi terroir matures in the Qvevri – the bulbous clay pot that has been the heart of Georgian winemaking for 8,000 years.
Teliani Valley is located in eastern Georgia, in the Kakheti wine region, where a continental climate and mineral-rich soil form the basis for concentrated red wines. The Glekhuri line stands for the traditional Qvevri method: skins and must ferment together in the buried clay vessel, which gives the wine structure, depth, and an unmistakable texture.
Bright garnet red in the glass. On the nose, red currant, cranberry, and dark blueberry – with an earthy undertone, like freshly broken slate. On the palate, grippy but well-integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a long, slightly tart finish. The aging potential is palpable – this wine needs time or a good piece of meat.
Serving suggestion: 16–18 °C. Pairs with grilled lamb, beef ragout, or strong hard cheese. Those familiar with Georgian cuisine should open it with Chanakhi or Lobiani.

Teliani Valley – wine with history. In the 19th century, Mikhail Romanov, brother of the Russian Tsar, had a large wine cellar built. In the 1880s, winemaker Antoin Mossano came to Georgia from Bordeaux – and stayed for nine years. He was the first to process Georgian grape varieties using European techniques. He sent his "Teliani" wine, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, to the Tsar – and became famous. Today, Teliani Valley cultivates these traditional vineyards. Ancient Georgian grape varieties, processed using both traditional and modern methods. Georgian wine culture – at its finest.
