Teliani Valley Glekhuri Kisiskhevi Saperavi Qvevri

Teliani Valley Glekhuri Kisiskhevi Saperavi Qvevri
A Georgian red wine that shows what happens when ancient cellar tradition meets an expressive grape variety: The Saperavi from the Kisiskhevi terroir matures in the Qvevri – the bulbous clay pot that has been the heart of Georgian winemaking for 8,000 years.
Teliani Valley is located in eastern Georgia, in the Kakheti wine region, where a continental climate and mineral-rich soil provide the foundation for concentrated red wines. The Glekhuri line represents the traditional Qvevri method: must and skins ferment together in the earth-buried clay vessel, giving the wine structure, depth, and a distinctive texture.
A brilliant garnet red in the glass. The nose offers aromas of red currant, cranberry, and dark blueberry, along with an earthy undertone reminiscent of freshly broken slate. On the palate, firm yet well-integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a long, slightly bitter finish. The aging potential is evident – this wine needs time or a good piece of meat.
Serving suggestion: 16–18 °C. Drinking window 2025–2030. Pairs well with grilled lamb, beef stew, or strong hard cheese. Those familiar with Georgian cuisine will enjoy it with Chanakhi or Lobiani.
