Substance 'Sb' Sauvignon Blanc

A Sauvignon Blanc that gets straight to the point: direct, aromatically precise, and with the energy of a wine that knows exactly what it wants to be. The Substance 'Sb' from the Columbia Valley comes from the estate of Charles Smith—a man who once managed rock bands and later made Washington State one of their most vocal advocates.

Smith founded his winery in Walla Walla, where he produced his first wine in 1999 using grapes from the legendary Cailloux Vineyard. Since then, his labels have stood for uncomplicated, easy-drinking wines with substance—the name says it all. Washington State provides ideal conditions for this: intense sunshine during the day, cool nights, and a dry climate that allows for both aromatic complexity and freshness.

In the glass, the 'Sb' displays aromas of grapefruit and lemongrass, along with a mineral flinty note. On the palate, lime, pine needles, and a hint of wildflowers follow—cool, crisp, and concentrated. The acidity carries the wine through a long, fresh finish.

Best served at 8–10 °C . Pairs well with grilled sea bass, goat cheese salad, or light chicken with herbs. Also a reliable choice as an aperitif on warm evenings.
