Stark-Condé The Press Club Sauvignon Blanc

Stark-Condé The Press Club Sauvignon Blanc
A Sauvignon Blanc from the Western Cape that seems cooler and more precise than one would expect from South Africa – with a clear aromatic line instead of tropical richness.
Stark-Condé is a family-run winery in Jonkershoek, a narrow valley near Stellenbosch. The altitude and the cool sea breezes from the Indian Ocean ensure slow ripening and a natural acid structure – conditions that Sauvignon Blanc needs to develop its full potential. The Press Club is the estate's more approachable line, but it embodies the same signature style: straightforward, regionally typical, and unpretentious.
In the glass, it displays a pale straw yellow. The nose offers aromas of green fig, gooseberry, and a hint of fresh herbs – lemongrass or mint. On the palate, it boasts lively acidity, a lean body, and a clean finish without excessive residual sweetness. No oak aging has been used, which allows the wine to retain its directness.
Serving suggestion: Serve chilled between 8 and 10 °C. Pairs well with grilled sea bass with caper butter, goat cheese salad, or mussels in white wine. Also enjoyable as an aperitif on its own. Drink now – no aging potential.
