Spiess White Burgundy Estate Wine Dry

A white Burgundy from the Palatinate — typical of the grape variety, dry and designed for fresh drinking pleasure. An estate wine that doesn't need a grand stage to impress.

The Spiess winery is located in Rheindürkheim in the Palatinate, a region that offers ideal conditions for Pinot Blanc: deep soils, plenty of sunshine, and a favorable climate that allows for ripening without heaviness. The estate wine is the entry point to the Spiess range—uncomplicated, yet expertly crafted.

In the glass, it displays a pale yellow color with greenish reflections. The nose offers aromas of pear, white peach, and a delicate hint of almond. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with lively acidity that keeps the wine taut, and finishes cleanly dry with no bitterness. Not a heavyweight—a wine that does exactly what it's supposed to.

Serving suggestion: Well chilled at 10–12 °C. Pairs well with asparagus with hollandaise sauce, pan-fried pike-perch, mild goat cheese, or as an accompaniment to light summer dishes. Drink now — no aging required.

Spiess

Weingut Spiess in Bechtheim is known for its consistently high quality production. The brothers Christian and Johannes Spiess are quality fanatics. Rigorous yield restriction, conscientious care of the vineyards, gentle processing, traditional thinking, and state-of-the-art cellar technology produce full-bodied wines that are at the same time pure and digestible. Above all, it is important to the Spiess family to bring the wine into the bottle just as it comes from the vineyard. Which means that the foundation is already laid in nature and consistently good work must be done in the estate's wine plots.
