Spier Seaward Sauvignon Blanc

A South African Sauvignon Blanc with a clear origin: cool, fresh, aromatically direct – as is typical of the Cape Town region, where cool sea air from the Atlantic Ocean sweeps across the vineyards.

Spier Cellars is one of the oldest wineries in South Africa, founded in Stellenbosch in 1692. The Seaward line taps into the influence of the Benguela Current – the cold deep water from Antarctica cools the vineyards and extends the ripening period, which benefits the Sauvignon Blanc variety: more vibrancy, more freshness, less tropical heaviness.

In the glass, the wine displays aromas of green fig, grass, and a hint of citrus. On the palate, it is light-bodied with lively acidity and a clean, dry finish. 3.5 stars / 85 points from John Platter (2020 vintage) – a reliable everyday wine made without compromise in vineyard management.

Serve well chilled at 8–10 °C . Pairs well with goat cheese salad, grilled sea bass, or asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Also a good choice as a simple aperitif.
