Sauvignon Blanc Martinborough Te Muna

A Sauvignon Blanc that shows what cool sites in New Zealand can achieve: no green sharpness, but depth, texture, and mineral tension.

Craggy Range was founded in 1997 by the Peabody family together with the oenologist and Master of Wine Steve Smith. The winery consistently relies on a single-vineyard philosophy — every wine reflects a concrete origin. The Te Muna Road vineyard is located above Martinborough on two terraces with highly calcareous soils. The climate here is cooler than in the rest of New Zealand, comparable to the Loire or Burgundy, with warm, dry late summers that allow for long ripening. The harvest often falls one to two weeks later than elsewhere — patience that shows in the glass.

In the nose, jasmine and nectarine, plus a clear line of lime. On the palate, lush and at the same time precise: tropical fruit meets a lively acidity that supports the wine without sharpening it. The calcareous site leaves an almost silky texture and a long, mineral finish.

Pairs well with grilled sea bass, goat cheese, or a light chicken-citrus dish. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.
