Salentein Barrel Selection Cabernet Franc

Salentein Barrel Selection Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc from Mendoza shows how far Argentina thinks beyond Malbec – the Salenstein Barrel Selection brings the grape variety to a cooler, more distinctive expression.
Bodegas Salenstein is located in the Valle de Uco, a high Andean valley at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. The significant temperature variations between day and night result in slow ripening and pronounced aromatics. Founded in 1999 by Dutch investors, the winery is now one of the most renowned in the Valle de Uco – boasting its own cultural center and a clear focus on quality in winemaking.
In the glass: blackberry and redcurrant, with a fresh hint of eucalyptus and a touch of dark chocolate on the finish. The wine has structure without feeling heavy – medium tannins, good acidity, and a clearly defined finish. The barrique aging adds depth without masking the fruit.
Serving suggestion: 16–18 °C. Pairs well with herb-crusted lamb chops, grilled bell peppers, or a mature Manchego cheese. Also a good wine to enjoy on its own in the evening. Drinking window: now until 2028.
