Roda Rioja Reserva DOCa

The Roda Reserva shows what Rioja Alta can do when a winery consistently focuses on quality rather than volume: a complex Tempranillo with ripe fruit, fine spice and real aging potential.

Bodegas Roda was founded in 1987 in Haro – in the heart of the Rioja Alta, where the best Tempranillo vineyards are situated on calcareous clay soils. The winery works exclusively with old vines and consciously avoids mass production. The Reserva matures for at least three years according to Spanish DOCa standards, including one year in oak barrels.

In the glass, a rich ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, fully ripe plum and sour cherry, underpinned by sloe and a hint of smoked bacon. Accompanying these are toasted oak, violets, and delicate vanilla. On the palate, medium to full-bodied, velvety tannins, lively acidity – the finish is long, slightly spicy with a floral note.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Drinking window until 2030. Pairs well with leg of lamb with rosemary , aged Manchego or Ibérico ham – classic Iberian cuisine is an obvious choice, but it also works well with venison ragout or strong hard cheese.

Bodegas Roda

Bodegas RODA is no ordinary winery. In the late 1980s, the Rotllant Daurella family came to Rioja with the clear intention of creating something lasting. The result is one of the most exciting wineries in Spain.

High above Haro's railway station district, wines are produced that bring out the best in old Tempranillo vines: SELA as an approachable entry point, RODA for deep red fruit, RODA I for dark power and freshness – and CIRSION for truly great moments. A winery that knows its roots and yet always looks to the future.
