Bodegas Roda

Bodegas RODA is no ordinary winery. In the late 1980s, the Rotllant Daurella family came to Rioja with the clear intention of creating something lasting. The result is one of the most exciting wineries in Spain.

High above Haro's railway station district, wines are produced that bring out the best in old Tempranillo vines: SELA as an approachable entry point, RODA for deep red fruit, RODA I for dark power and freshness – and CIRSION for truly great moments. A winery that knows its roots and yet always looks to the future.

Bodegas Roda –
Rioja from old vines, with a view to the future

Bodegas Roda was born from a clear conviction: that Rioja Alta was capable of more than it was given credit for at the time. In the late 1980s, the Rotllant Daurella family settled in Haro – not to take over an existing winery, but to rethink their approach from the ground up. The result is a winery that combines old Tempranillo vines with modern cellar technology, without losing sight of its origins.

The wines are produced high above Haro's historic railway station district, where the region's major wineries have been concentrated since the 19th century. Roda works exclusively with old vines, whose deep roots extract minerality and concentration from the soil that younger vines cannot achieve. SELA is the approachable entry-level wine with red fruit and easy drinkability; RODA displays depth and structure; RODA I offers greater density and freshness; and CIRSION represents the parcels with the greatest potential, vinified only in the best vintages.

What all four wines have in common is a precision that relies not on extraction, but on patience. Long maceration times, careful barrel selection, a cellar designed for temperature stability. Bodegas Roda is one of the most reliable producers of Rioja, convincing both young and after years of cellaring.
