Riesling Stolzenberg GG

Stolzenberg is a vineyard that needs no explanation—it speaks for itself. Hatzenport's proudest vineyard, distinctly steep, deeply rooted in the Devonian slate of the terraced Moselle.

Heymann-Löwenstein cultivates two parcels here, totaling just 0.6 hectares. The vines grow on grey-brown, platy sandstone of the Nellenköpfchen strata—a soil that retains heat, releases water quickly, and imparts a distinctive minerality to the wine. Slopes of up to 150% mean that only hand-harvesting is possible. The vines, over 40 years old, dig deep into the rock; yields remain low, concentration high. VDP.GROSSE LAGE—the highest classification in German winemaking.

Fermentation takes place exclusively with wild yeasts in wooden barrels, without enzymes or fining agents. The wine matures on the lees until summer—this gives it texture and that oxidative depth that distinguishes Mosel Rieslings of this origin from all others. In the glass, it displays aromas of yellow stone fruit, citrus peel, and wet slate, accompanied by a firm, cool acidity and a long, salty-mineral finish.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Drinking window: 2026–2038. Pairs well with pike-perch fillet on leek vegetables, scallops with butter sauce or mature Comté cheese.
