Psenner Grappa Lagrein Monovitigno
A single-varietal grappa made from Lagrein pomace—one of South Tyrol's most distinctive red wine grape varieties. Psenner, one of the region's most renowned distilleries, based in Auer/Ora in the Adige Valley, uses gentle water bath distillation for its Monovitigno Lagrein . This process protects the volatile aromatic compounds of the pomace from overheating, thus preserving the varietal characteristics of Lagrein.
In the glass, Lagrein reveals its defining characteristics: dark berry aromas—blackberry, blueberry—paired with a subtle bitter almond note and a hint of dried violets. The finish is warm, medium-long, and pleasantly dry. The South Tyrolean quality seal confirms adherence to strict production and analysis standards.
- Neat: slightly chilled at 14–16 °C, small grappa glass
- After a meal: classically as a digestif, on its own or over dark chocolate
- To refine: in an espresso as a caffè corretto
