Pinot Noir Reserve QW Carnuntum 0.75L

Pinot Noir Reserve QW Carnuntum 0.75L
A Pinot Noir that shows what Carnuntum can do: depth without heaviness, spice without overload. Gerhard Markowitsch is one of the pioneers of this Lower Austrian wine region east of Vienna – his winery works biodynamically and consistently focuses on site-typical wines with clearly readable origins.
Carnuntum lies on the southern edge of the Vienna Basin, characterized by a continental climate with hot summers and cool nights – ideal conditions for Pinot Noir, which needs temperature differences to develop aromatics and freshness simultaneously. Markowitsch has been a fixture for this grape variety in Austria for years, and the Reserve Cuvée is his commitment to site typicity.
In the glass, the wine opens with aromas of rosehips, liquorice, and dried cloves. Beneath this lies a dark fruit layer of sour cherry and black berries, which gains depth with increasing aeration. On the palate, it is structured and dense, with a fine, ripe tannin structure that never feels hard. The lively acidity carries the finish long and spicy – a sign of biodynamic work in the vineyard.
Pairs well with duck breast with red cabbage, rack of lamb with herb crust, or mature mountain cheese. Also a safe choice with braised beef or game dishes. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
