Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore DOC

Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore is one of Italy's most famous wines — a Super Tuscan that has established the Bolgheri coastal region on the world map of wine. Behind it stands Tenuta dell' Ornellaia, a winery that has consistently focused on Bordeaux-inspired cuvées from the Maremma since the 1980s, developing an unmistakably Tuscan style.

In the cellar, every grape variety and every plot was vinified separately — alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks at 26–30 °C, malolactic fermentation subsequently predominantly in oak barriques. After twelve months, the components were united into the cuvée and aged for another six months in barrels, totaling 18 months in barrique (70% new, 30% first-fill). Before market release, a twelve-month bottle aging followed. The result: aromas of dark cherry, cassis, and cedar wood, underscored by a hint of graphite and dark cocoa. The palate shows what distinguishes this vintage — the tannin is exceptionally finely polished, without edges, with a long, spicy finish.

Serve it at 17–18 °C, ideally after one hour of decanting. At the table, it pairs with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, braised leg of lamb with rosemary, or aged Pecorino di Pienza.
