Metzger Prachtstück Spätburgunder Blanc de Noir

A Blanc de Noir with that certain something: The magnificent Spätburgunder from the Metzger winery shows how much character Pinot Noir can develop even without red wine aging — fresh, precise, with a touch of depth.

Metzger Winery is one of the most reliable wineries in the Palatinate. Its location in the northern part of the region produces Pinot Noir that is less influenced by heat than its southern counterparts—and therefore retains more vibrancy in the glass. The Blanc de Noir is made by pressing the red grapes immediately, so that very little color is transferred to the must.

A delicate salmon pink in the glass. On the nose, the wine reveals melon, apple compote, and a hint of sweet cherry. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy with a light spiciness and a mineral note on the finish—not a heavy, buttery, or opulent style, but a leaner, more drinkable wine.

  • Temperature: 10–12 °C
  • Pairs well with: grilled salmon, burrata with tomatoes, light pasta dishes with vegetables, or as an uncomplicated summer evening wine on its own.
  • Occasion: Terrace, picnic, uncomplicated introduction to the world of Blanc de Noir

Weingut Metzger

The name Uli Metzger from Asselheim stands for the Metzger winery in the Northern Palatinate. He has been in charge of the winery since 2010, although he has been dedicated to the business, which belonged to his parents at the time, for a good 30 years. His commitment and ideas led to success. Many technical innovations, but also the striking labels on which the wines are divided into 3 levels - similar to the cuts of a cow - made the wines famous. Modern, high-quality wines are grown on around 27 hectares of land, which largely consists of lime-rich soil.
