Kreuz Spätburgunder GG QW Rheinhessen 0.75L

The Kreuz Spätburgunder GG from Kühling-Gillot comes from one of the most exciting single vineyards in Rheinhessen — a dry red wine that explores the Pinot Noir qualities of this region with Burgundian precision.

Kühling-Gillot is one of Rheinhessen's flagship wineries. Carolin Spanier-Gillot runs the estate biodynamically and focuses on single-vineyard wines with a clear geographical profile. The Kreuzlage vineyard in Bodenheim yields Pinot Noir with the necessary depth for the Grosses Gewächs (Grand Cru) – the highest quality level of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates).

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red. The nose offers aromas of dark cherry, elderberry, and fresh herbs, with an earthy, slightly mineral undertone that hints at its terroir. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish.

Best served at 16–17 °C . Drinking window 2025–2032. Pairs well with venison fillet with wild mushrooms, roast duck, or mature Époisses.

Weingut Kühling-Gillot

Carolin and Oliver Battenfeld's winery is located on the Rhine terrace. Kühling-Gillot is distinguished by its organic farming practices, which have been expanded to include biodynamic methods since 2005. For Carolin and Oliver Battenfeld, the European hare symbolizes fertility and joie de vivre. In recent years, the winery has developed into one of the absolute top producers in Germany. The slate soil of the famous Roter Hang (Red Slope) around Nierstein and Nackenheim produces wines whose blend of delicate fruit and vibrant minerality represents something of an ideal example of a great dry wine.
