Kiedrich Gräfenberg Riesling GG

The Kiedrich Gräfenberg is the flagship of Robert Weil – a Riesling that combines power and finesse so naturally that it is best to simply give it time.

The Robert Weil winery is one of the most well-known addresses in the Rheingau. The Gräfenberg site in Kiedrich is considered one of the best Riesling sites in Germany: Taunus quartzite weathered soil, southern exposure, naturally limited yields. The Grosses Gewächs here represents the dry top wine of the site – vinified with the ambition to reflect terroir and vintage as directly as possible.

In the glass, the wine shows a firm, concentrated character: yellow-fruited core with aromas of quince and ripe mirabelle, plus a hint of bacon, roasted onions, and subtle yeast notes from aging. The minerality is clearly present – almost salty, with a touch of flint. On the palate, dense, ripe fruit with melt and a hint of rock candy, embedded in a very fine, supporting acid structure. The finish is long, slightly spicy, with tobacco notes and intense minerality. Anyone opening the bottle should observe the wine over several days – it develops noticeably.

Serving suggestion: 12–13 °C. Pairs with zander on beurre blanc, sweetbreads, or mature Comté.

Robert Weil

VDP Member Estate

Robert Weil – a name that stands for Rheingau excellence. Wilhelm Weil, great-grandson of the founder, runs the estate today in Kiedrich. 89.80 hectares of vineyards, 100 percent Riesling. His best sites, above all the Gräfenberg, lie high above the Rhine – the harvest begins about two weeks later.

Historic manor house, modern winery, a garden landscape: tradition and modernity in harmony. This is exactly what you find in the wines. Rheingau, as it should be.
