Kiedricher Turmberg Riesling Qualitätswein trocken
The Kiedricher Turmberg Riesling Qualitätswein trocken ( dry quality wine) represents the meteoric rise to VDP.Oberklasse status for Robert Weil – the Rheingau stalwart in Kiedrich, who cultivates 100% Riesling and has been awarded 5 grapes in the Gault Millau guide. The Turmberg vineyard lies directly at the foot of the keep of the former Scharfskopf Castle – a south- to southwest-facing slope with gradients of up to 60%, on barren phyllite slate soils that retain little water and encourage deep root development in the vines.
100% Riesling, 100% hand-harvested, consistent in the vineyard and cellar: long hanging times, spontaneous fermentation, aging in stainless steel – no barrique, no need for crossing.
In the glass, a clear, bright golden yellow. The nose opens with citrus, lemon zest, and grapefruit, accompanied by peach skin, wild herbs, and a distinct hint of fine slate. On the palate, very mineral, with juicy, assertive acidity, a delicate bitter note, and a length that speaks volumes.
Served at 8–10 °C with an alcohol content of 12.5–13.0% ABV, with aging potential until 2035. An ideal accompaniment to seafood, asparagus, lightly acidified fish dishes and goat cheese – dry, honest and with all the elegance of Kiedrich in a glass.
