The Kavalan Solist Rum Cask is a single malt whisky from Taiwan that has been aged in former rum casks and comes into the bottle unfiltered at 53.2% ABV. Kavalan, founded in 2005 in Yilan County at the foot of Snow Mountain, has made a name for itself internationally with its humid climate and pure spring water from the Central Mountain Range — the intensive aging in Taiwan's tropical climate replaces many years in temperate latitudes.

The rum casks leave clear traces: on the nose, tropical fruit, ripe mango, and pineapple, underscored by vanilla and a hint of dark cane sugar. On the palate follows an oily, dense texture that carries the high alcohol well. The finish is long, with coconut, caramel, and a spicy aftertaste.

It unfolds best pure — a drop of water opens the fruit aromas additionally. As a gift box with a Kavalan Port Oak miniature (0.05 l), the set is a concrete entry into two different cask styles of the same house. Recommendation: serve at room temperature, let it stand slightly open in the glass.
