IDDA Etna Rosso Etna Rosso DOP 0.75L
Nerello Mascalese from Mount Etna — that means volcanic minerality, bright fruit, and a lightness unexpected from Sicily. The IDDA Etna Rosso from Gaja perfectly embodies this character: complex, spicy, and with an unmistakable origin.
IDDA is a collaboration between Angelo Gaja and Alberto Graci, two names synonymous with precision and terroir-driven winemaking in Italy. The vines grow on the high slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily—on mineral-rich lava soil that imparts the wine with its characteristic freshness and depth. Nerello Mascalese is the region's signature grape: thin-skinned, high in acidity, with a profile more reminiscent of Burgundy than the sun-drenched south.
In the glass, it displays aromas of juniper, graphite, and cinchona bark, along with a delicate orange note that adds spice and warmth. The body is medium-bodied, the tannins silky, and the finish long and mineral. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
It pairs well with pasta with wild boar ragù, grilled lamb with herbs, or a robust Pecorino Siciliano. It also makes a good accompaniment to mushroom dishes or dark bitter olives.
