Hedges Family Estate CMS Red Blend

CMS stands for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah — the three grape varieties that Hedges blends on Red Mountain to create an approachable, characterful blend.

Hedges Family Estate winery is among the pioneers of the Red Mountain AVA in Washington State. The family has been cultivating their vineyards since the early 1990s, focusing on sustainable viticulture on the volcanic basalt soil of the hill east of Yakima. Red Mountain is considered one of the warmest and driest growing regions in Washington—short growing season, high daytime temperatures, cool nights. This results in ripe fruit with preserved structure.

In the glass, the CMS Red Blend displays aromas of red cherry and blackberry, underpinned by cocoa, a hint of vanilla, and spicy smoky notes from the oak aging. Medium-bodied, with soft tannins and a creamy texture, the finish is pleasantly long with a touch of spice.
