Grüner Veltliner 8000 Ried Laa Erste Lage Weinviertel DAC Reserve 0.75L
The Grüner Veltliner from the Ried Laa shows what the Weinviertel can do on limestone: a structured, dry white wine with a clear language of origin and genuine aging potential.
Weingut Setzer in Hohenwarth is one of the most reliable addresses in the Weinviertel DAC. The Ried Laa is classified as an Erste Lage — the highest quality level of the region. The special feature of this wine is already in the name: 8,000 vines per hectare, a vine density that is far above the Weinviertel average. Narrow plant spacing means more root competition, lower yield per vine, and more concentrated grapes. The lime-rich soil of the Ried Laa does the rest — it gives the wine tension and minerality.
In the glass, the typical character of a site-specific Grüner Veltliner appears: white pepper, green apple, a hint of grapefruit, and a fine herbal spice. The palate is dense, the acidity present without sharpness, the finish long and mineral. The Reserve category of the Weinviertel DAC requires a minimum aging time — you can feel that in the depth.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs with Wiener Schnitzel, zander with parsley sauce, or robust mountain cheese.
