Grüner Veltliner 8000 Ried Laa Erste Lage Weinviertel DAC Reserve 0.75L
The Grüner Veltliner from the Ried Laa shows what the Weinviertel can do on limestone: a structured, dry white wine with a clear expression of origin and real aging potential.
Setzer Winery in Hohenwarth is one of the most reliable producers in the Weinviertel DAC. Their Laa vineyard is classified as a Erste Lage (Grand Cru) – the highest quality level in the region. The special character of this wine is already evident in its name: 8,000 vines per hectare, a planting density far exceeding the Weinviertel average. Closer spacing means more root competition, lower yields per vine, and more concentrated grapes. The calcareous soil of the Laa vineyard further contributes to the wine's vibrancy and minerality.
In the glass, the typical character of a Grüner Veltliner from a single vineyard site is revealed: white pepper, green apple, a hint of grapefruit, and a delicate herbal spiciness. The palate is dense, the acidity present without harshness, the finish long and mineral. The Reserve category of the Weinviertel DAC requires a minimum aging period—and this is evident in the wine's depth.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C . Pairs well with Wiener Schnitzel, pike-perch with parsley sauce, or strong mountain cheese. Best enjoyed by 2028.
